About me
At the moment, I am based in Italy, in Milan area, but I am willing to relocate abroad (hopefully, US, Ireland or UK).
I am a web designer/developer, with a strong knowledge in web standards and I have a strong background in making contents and websites accessible for blind users.
I am a member of the International Webmasters Association - IWA.
In 2005, I graduated from Università degli Studi di Milano (State University of Milan) in Computer Science, with a dissertation entitled "Scientific Communication in the Digital Talking Book", focused on possible solutions to insert MathML in the DAISY format.
In fact, since my university days, I came in touch with blind students, getting to know the challenges they have to face in their everyday lives, and especially when it comes to study mathematics and scientific subjects.
Since Internet came, problems arose for them - of course, along with many advantages.
So, I decided that I'll do my best to make my works accessible and usable.
It's a constant learning process, but I like what I do.
After graduating, I did an internship in a web agency to put my hands on the job.
Since February 2007 I'm working at a European project called "@Science Thematic Network - Towards an accessible science for visually impaired students", whose aim is to define guidelines and best practices for publishers/editors of scientific books, in order to make the information there contained accessible.
I'll be working for this project at Università degli Studi di Milano until September 2008.
Meanwhile, I'm doing some freelance web design.
I do believe in Web Standards and their goals.
I can do XHTML+CSS (hand-coded) starting from a psd file in few days (depending on the complexity of the layout)
See the Services section for further details.
My portfolio is here.
Below, there's my CV in pdf format, both in English and in Italian, available for download.
